The Bird and the Flying Fish by Aishath Huda opens at Gallery 350

A second look at The Bird and the Flying Fish by Aishath Huda.

Gallery 350 is proud to announce the opening of The Bird and the Flying Fish – a solo exhibition by the internationally acclaimed artist, Aishath Huda. This marks the second time the exhibition is being shown to the public, following its debut seven years ago at the Maldives National Art Gallery.

The Bird and the Flying Fish is a deep exploration of multiple perspectives – both lived and imagined – through Huda’s unique artistic lens. The exhibition delves into the fluidity of environments and bodies, using water as a central theme to explore the dynamic relationship between them. Huda’s distinctive approach invites viewers to reflect on how we perceive ourselves in relation to the world around us, highlighting the intricate and often unseen forces that shape our experiences.

Huda’s work is known for its evocative use of water, serving as a method for investigating human connections to their surroundings. By incorporating this element into her art, she invites the audience to contemplate the transient nature of life and the shifting boundaries between the physical and emotional realms.

Huda received her MFA from the University of Illinois Chicago, and BFA from China Academy of Art, Hangzhou. She has exhibited nationally and internationally including at the South Asia Institute and Gallery400 (Chicago); Metafora (Barcelona); Santa Rosa Monastery (Sardinia); Diamonds La Gemma Dell’est (Zanzibar); Nehru Wangchuck Cultural Center (Thimphu); The Capital Library (Beijing); China Academy of Art Museum (Hangzhou); Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts (Xi’an); and the Maldives National Art gallery (Malé). Huda is currently based in Chicago, where she teaches painting as an adjunct assistant professor.

The exhibition will run from 24th January until February 28th 2026, providing ample opportunity for the public, and especially art enthusiasts, to experience Huda’s compelling body of work in a new setting.
